According to an e-mail I received this morning from Jodi Peterson, Management Analyst, Springfield Community Development and Housing, the Springfield Home Ownership Program (SHOP) is out of funds until July 1, 2010. Reports of Congress debating the merits of extending the tax credit until some time next year or expanding it to include more than just first time buyers, so far are just reports and bills in committee. Springfield Home Ownership Program added a grant program to assist First Time Home Buyers in the purchase of foreclosed properties in the City of Springfield Oregon. The program will give First Time Home Buyers purchasing a foreclosed property an additional $4,000 grant for down payment and/or closing costs as long as they qualify for the Springfield Home Ownership Program (SHOP).
