Springfield Home Ownership Program (SHOP) out of funds
According to an e-mail I received this morning from Jodi Peterson, Management Analyst, Springfield Community Development and Housing, the Springfield Home Ownership Program (SHOP) is out of funds until July 1, 2010. The SHOP program provides down payment and closing cost assistance to low to moderate income borrowers for the purchase of their first home in Springfield Oregon. More about the program is available here.
It is a shame that the city has run out of funding for this program, it has been a great asset in assisting borrowers purchase their first home, but they (SHOP) helped over 40 purchasers this past year in their quest for homeownership. Congratulations Jodi on a job well done. We will be back in July for more money! The city does still have some NSP (Neighborhood Stabilization Program) funds available for use on foreclosures. These funds are available up to $35,000 for down payment and closing costs on foreclosures in targeted areas.
